Inspired by some of the finest examples of botanical art in the Rare Book Collections of the Mertz Library from the New York Botanical Gardens. The portrait of butterflies is by the 18th-century English naturalist and artist Mark Catesby, who collected specimens and made paintings of the diverse flora and fauna of the Americas between 1712 and 1726.
